The 1st Star Fighter Squadron are known as the 'Dark Knights', under the leadership of Major Xavier Wolfram. As their name suggests, they were the first starfighter squadron to be activated under the rebuilding of Starfleet following the Borg War, and consisted primarily of pilots who had survived the Battle of Sol and been left in any vaguely fit state to fly.
