Physical Appearance
Moderately tall and of lanky frame, Beckett’s slight form once hid a wiry strength and resilience to cope with the high physical strain of his career as a pilot. His features were sharp and strong, in his youth seeing him cutting a dramatic figure in a flight suit that one would almost have expected to see in a recruitment poster. Age has, however, begun to take its toll – although he remains in good physical shape for a man in his fifties, that holds inherent limits. Psychological Profile
Victor is a well spoken up-front individual, especially when it comes to being a doctor. He always strives to be a patient advocate and looks out for the best interest of those he serves. Outside of sickbay Victor tends to be both calm and charismatic, always socializing in a relaxed fashion, inspiring conversation from anybody around him.
Background
Victor was born to Chase and Martha Ross in 1792 in Edinburgh Scotland. Chase and Martha had come to reside in Edinburgh after their ship crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off of the coast of Scotland in 1701 while visiting Earth. Chase joined the British military in 1703 during the War of Spanish Succession. He moved up quickly through the military ranks to Major General when he retired as commanding officer to the Royal Regiment of Artillery in 1748. During his military career, Martha had given birth to 6 daughters. Chase was then chosen to take command of the Yoeman of the Guard. It was then that King George II bestowed upon him the title of Baronet, a title that Chase was not able to pass on until Victor was born in 1792, following two daughters born before him and proceeding two more sons born afterwards.
In 1832, Victor attended the University of Edinburgh School of Medicine and immediately served two years in the Royal Army as a field doctor, followed by several years as a family doctor in private practice. Once a ‘normal’ human life span had passed, Victor spent the next 400 years moving around Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Spain, and America, each time serving in some sort of medical vocation no matter where he went. In 2252 Chase passed away from natural causes, leaving all of his property in Edinburgh to his eldest son: Victor, who continued to hold and maintain the property until in 2304 when he moved to San Francisco to teach as a civilian instructor for Starfleet Academy; teaching epidemiology, surgery, and emergency medicine.
In 2386 shortly after the First Battle of Bajor, Victor served on Earth as Assistant Chief of Surgery for an Emergency Wartime Hospital, set up as a massive medical facility for war casualties. Unfortunately for Victor and other doctors working at the hospital, there were often no survivors – entire crews being assimilated or blown into space. Despite this, Victor served at the hospital throughout the course of the fighting, and for a time afterwards.
Since the war, Victor has been eager to do his part to help from beyond Earth and applied for a Medical position within Starfleet. In recognition of his vast experience and knowledge, he was given a commission and position onboard Deep Space 5.
