Amir Smith was the Chief Counselor on the USS Triton in the early 25th century as of 2406.

Smith is unlike the rest of his siblings, much less his older twin, Jeremiah. With age, he is increasingly introverted, but is nonetheless kind. His preference for privacy and devotion to religion can make him hard to get to know, but he has a big heart and is more than happy to serve the needs of the majority rather than the wants of a minority.

Character History

Strengths and Weaknesses

Amir is a leader and the roles and responsibilities required of him as a member of the senior staff come naturally to him. His is an apt observer, but has a tendency to rely on his Betazoid heritage. He can be dependent on religious guidance and a quiet, outside environment when stressed, although he is classy and cleverly dressed. Shoreleave often finds him reading, writing, socializing or playing pranks on crew members.

Smith's main ambition is to retire young and accomplished, having seen enough of the universe to know that he would want to start a family. He is compelled to raise children on a starship, but the current state of Starfleet has made that decision impossible. Smith is fascincated with the family toy business, and probably hopes to revive it with a semblance of a family starting.

Family and School

When they were born four months premature, Amir and Jeremiah were co-habitants of a single incubator on the second incarnation of the hospital ship USS Havers. Their quick recovery reassured the twins’ mother, but Amir’s personality was slower, less apt to adapt to new surroundings. He was a stark difference when compared to his twin brother, and naturally attained his mother’s increased attention.

Nonetheless, Amir often partnered with his brother to become the family’s pranksters; often scheming elaborate plans to irritate their siblings – sisters, in particular – and sometimes, their parents. When he wasn’t with his brother, however, the then French and English-speaking boy helped manage the madhouse that was the Smith household. With three other siblings he became content to tend to life’s small crises, and was consequently asked to share many responsibilities and domestic chores. His favorite sibling is undoubtedly youngest sister Blake, although not much is known of their relationship as Amir’s introverted tendencies also include a strong partiality to privacy.

Amir was born to a quarter-Betazoid mother and an Englishman father; the former was a career Starfleet officer, while the latter became a business liaison to his father-in-law’s toy business. Amir’s patient personality made him a (self-admitted) favorite with his mother, although his aptitude for exploration and advice-giving (traits his twin never shared) garnered the attention of his aunt and father. Although he was as unwilling to attend as his brother, Amir’s education took a sharp turn toward discipline and Radcliffe Military Academy. It was here where the counselor’s trickster habits were somewhat eliminated, giving way to increased interest in Starfleet.

Starfleet

Details regarding life beyond Radcliffe Military Academy and into Starfleet Academy are unknown, although the now Lieutenant has come out of the woodwork to be posted on the USS Triton. Returning to life after the Borg conflict has been difficult for Amir, but he is fortunate to count most of his family members among his possessions.

Personal Life

Although Amir has long refused to discuss anything beyond his professional life, he has consistently become the object of much speculation regarding his maternal lineage. Only oldest sister Isabella and youngest sibling Blake have actively spoken about their mother, especially when it was thought that they were the children of one of the Kane twins. Molly Kane is (as twin Riley was declared MIA during the Borg War), albiet arguably, "a close family friend, and nothing more."

Amir's older identical twin (by three minutes) is currently working at Starfleet Medical France.
