Physical / Psychological Description

Standing at 5 feet 5 inches tall Jessica is a thing of beauty, her long blond hair stops just beyond her shoulder blades, while her piercing blue eyes mesmerise many of those she meets.

Usually this would be a frightening combination of features; however Jessica does not recognise her own affect on others. In conversations she cannot grasp why others fawn over her passable looks.

The years of war have taken their toll on Jessica; while the latest training accident to befall wasn’t her fault the accident board have pulled her flight status citing her to be unstable.

Jessica is always looking for a father figure in her life, for years this has been General James Staffson. With her recent transfer to Starfleet Command she once again finds herself alone. Her fears manifest themselves in a variety of ways, some days she will be incredibly bitchy towards men she fears will leave her alone on others she will throw herself at them in order to gain their love, affection and acceptance.

Strangely in a cockpit Jessica is all business and able to deal with anything thrown at her, it is only out in the real world she allows herself to fall to bits.

The fact she has never spoken to her mother since she left in 2391 still haunts her to this day.

History

Born to single mother in Leeds, Yorkshire Jessica grew up an only child. Her father was never traced and her mother often refused to provide more than the most cursory information about him. As Jessica grew up she often wondered who her father was and wondered why he had chosen to have nothing to do with her life. Her mother’s refusal to enter in to discussions about him only compounded the feeling of pain she carried around each day.

Jessica was seven when she first developed an interest in flight; several Starfleet Officers came to visit her school to talk about their jobs. She found herself most enthralled by the tales told by the helm officer a Lieutenant Joshua Smith, each story fuelled her wish to reach for the stars.

Her mother was less than enthralled with the idea, she forbade Jessica to even consider Starfleet as a career. She wouldn’t explain why, or acknowledge any decision on the matter, as far as she was concerned it was no longer an option for her daughter.

Her mothers words on fuelled Jessica’s secret desires further, although she never mentioned it again she began plotting and planning her route to Starfleet Academy where she would be able to study as a Starfleet Pilot.

The years passed as Jessica worked diligently in all her subjects, her mother was pleased that her daughter was putting all her effort in to school and hopped that she would leave and find a real job away from the war that raged around the galaxy.

In secret Jessica applied to Starfleet Academy a few days before her 18th Birthday; when the reply from the fleet arrived Jessica found her mother was less than willing to discuss the whole issue still. The pair argued for hours, her mother arguing reasons not to join Starfleet and Jessica providing counter arguments. Eventually they reached an impasse, her mother threatened that she would never be welcome in her house again if she joined Starfleet. No more was said on the subject until September 1st 2391 when Jessica left her mothers house and headed for Starfleet academy. She left behind a note of apology for her mother explaining her reasons for leaving.

Throughout her academy training Jessica was lauded as an instinctive pilot, while her studies were less than perfect her practical scores allowed her to graduate. Although her graduation score was in the bottom quarter of her class Jessica found herself assigned to Falcon Squadron straight from the Academy.

Falcon Squadron was short lived, it only lasted 3 missions before being disbanded due to excessive losses. Jessica’s first call sign was given to her during her time with the Falcons, referred to as Ice Maiden her fellow pilots thought it accurately described the way she appeared to the opposite sex in a bar. Jessica was less than amused at this but was unable to have it changed.

After Falcon Squadron’s untimely destruction Jessica found herself moved from Squadron to Squadron as the losses mounted. With each move she was given a more senior role, by 2396 she found herself serving as Squadron Executive Officer for Razor Squadron. In mid 2396 her call sign changed to Snake, a call sign she ahs held ever since. Following an attack on a Borg cube Jessica was forced to make an emergency landing on a Borg infested planet. She endured 6 days of frantic escape and evasion before being rescued.

Razor Squadron’s official reason for changing her call sign was in recognition of her time spent as an infantry solider, often referred to as snake eaters in pilot slang. The real reason was much simpler, every male member of the squadron wanted to snake her, but were unable to do so.

Jessica has never said whether she knows the real reason behind her call sign, and no one has had the guts to ask her.

Just prior to the battle for Sol Jessica was placed in to a new Squadron the Flying Fists. Again she served as executive officer, despite her young age she was one of the most experienced officers in the squadron. Early on in the battle Fist One was destroyed, Jessica took command of the Squadron. Of the 12 fighters that started the battle only 4 survived, the bodies of the other Flying Fists were never recovered.

Jessica remained in command of the Flying Fists in the years that followed, working closely with the Fists former commanding officer (then Commodore) James Staffson she rebuilt the squadron in to a solid dependable fighting force.

Between 2398 and 2403 the fists lost 3 pilots due to training accidents and a further 11 pilots during patrol missions. All in all 14 pilots have died under the command of Major Rosenthorn, something she has found hard to deal with.

In 2403 the Flying Fists officially became part of Star Fighter Command; this coincided with Jessica’s removal from flight status by a crash inquiry board. Rather than loose a fine officer like Jessica Star Fighter Command chose to move her to Starfleet Command where she would be able to undertake a non-flying administrative role.

In 2404 it became apparent that Jessica was not responsible for the accident that cost the lives of 2 of her fellow pilots, with this her flying status was reinstated. Rather than being returned to an active duty squadron Jessica found herself with the offer of further command training. Starfleet didn't ellaborate on what this would lead to, however with her own crisis of faith to deal with Jessica didn't want to jump back in a cockpit.

In 2405 Jessica took over the training of new pilots both in and out of the cockpit, her role sees her split her time between Mars and Starfleet Academy on earth. During her time on earth she has formed a friendship with Justin Tancred and regularily fills the role of confidant for him when his girl friend is unavailable.
