Colonel Yolen'da Surridge was the commanding officer of the USS Christopher Reeve, a vessel attached to Deep Space Seven for the majority of the opening years of the war.
In 2395 however, as the inner Federation was under attack, the base was unable to hold out as far away as they were, and all personell were recalled to the inner Federation for defense. The USS Christopher Reeve was bound for Trill to drop off several families of refugees as a stop over on the way to Earth.
- Among these was Aegir McIsh and his family.
On the way, the ship was attacked by the Borg. Most of the refugees were able to get out in the escape pods, but the ship itself was destroyed.
Colonel Surridge armed a non-cancellable self destruct and prepared to ram the cube to give the survivors a chance to get away. Before she could though, the bridge was boarded by the Borg. The crew held them back and kept the ship on course. Yolen'da was able to lock out the computer, setting their fate in stone. The ram killed everybody on board including her, but the Cube was heavily damaged and possibly abandoned afterwords due to the resulting core breach.
Update on vessel status: 2402
In 2400, a privately owned salvage vessel retrieved an Starfleet data module in a debris field in the general area that the Reeve was reported destroyed. The owner returned it to a Starfleet facility in 2402 after being unable to decipher it, or scavenge it for any kind of profit.
The module was confirmed to be from the USS Christopher Reeve, and contained information on the vessel's final moments. As it turns out, the Reeve did not ram the cube as the survivors had claimed.
The Borg borded the Reeve's bridge and in the process stopped the ship from ramming their vessel. Most of the bridge crew was assimilated and beamed back to the cube before the self-destruct took place. Rechecking the data multiple times, it was confirmed that Colonel Surridge was not killed, and was one of the assimilated crew beamed off the ship.
All information on her is lost after this, but her Starfleet status of deceased was not changed due to this new information.
Untold Information
This information has not been written in a story yet, so is not canon and may change as time dictates. However, it is in the player's profile of the character and can be considered non-canon, yet player written for potential future inclusion into canon as storylines may provide.
After being assimilated, Yolen'da eventually ended up as a part of one of the vessels involved in the Battle of Sol. After being crippled, it became a part of the debris field around Earth. She is still alive inside of it (or what can be considered alive) with a group of Borg unaffected by the Dominion pathogen that is not connected to the collective. They compose the majority population of the Borg left in the field and were responsible for what happened to the USS Annapolis and its convoy.
