Dark Knights

The 1st Earth Defence Force Squadron are known as the 'Dark Knights', under the leadership of Major Xavier Wolfram. As their name suggests, they were the first starfighter squadron to be activated under the rebuilding of Starfleet following the Borg War, and consisted primarily of pilots who had survived the Battle of Sol and been left in any vaguely fit state to fly. They are renowned for being one of the most vigilant of the Sol System's guardians over the six years since the end of the War, and though they have been recently assigned as one of the spearheads in the Vulcan conflict, their reputation on Earth remains.

The squadron's motto is 'First Amongst Equals', though a lot of the attitude presented by both the media and certain members of the squadron has suggested a belief amongst some that the 1st EDF Squadron are no mere 'equals' of their comrades in Star Fighter Command.
