Talarians

The "Talarians" were situated in the "Northern" part of the Alpha Quadrant bordering Cardassian, Tzenkethi and Federation space. Since they had remained neutral during the Dominion War, they were able to increase their forces substantially but it would not be enough as the Borg neither caring nor wanting the Talarian people or their domain simply destroyed everything that got in their way into Cardassian space and their plans to create a beachhead in the Alpha Quadrant.

During the course of the Borg War the Talarian homeworld was destroyed making the survivors refugees, left with no choice they fled their former domain. After Starfleet set up the Re-Exploration Initiative contact was re-made with a rather relieved Talarian government that was at breaking point in trying to rebuild their lives.

Currently the leadership of the Talarian government are negotiating with the Federation to become members, as they are at this time unable to provide the infrastructure to support their people and are looking for a planet to call their new home.

The Talarian government consists of the remaining five clans each having the leader of each clan on the ruling council, presently the Trelan clan member leads in the rotating presidency. The relationship between this new government and the Federation could be considered rosy, they are thankful for the assistance that the Federation but there a significant number that wish to return to the days that the Talarian people could stand without the need of the Federation. Therefore the government plays a difficult game placating both the Federation and its people to give their race the hope of a better future for all Talarians in finding a new home.
