Previous Ships to bear the name
The USS Yorktown (NCC-1717-E) was a Defiant-class vessel under the command of Captain James K'Temoc Bremer. It is assumed to have been the first Starfleet vessel to make contact with the enemy during the Borg War after being sent into Krazzle space to investigate reports of a Borg invasion. Its last transmission was brief and ineloquent. "Many cubes... heading Raeya." The vessel is listed as MIA however the nature of its last transmission leads many to assume its destruction at the hands of the Borg fleet.
