Chancellor Sovtuj is the current leader of the new Klingon Empire. A formerly mighty warrior, he entered politics when the Klingons joined the Federation during the Borg War. Although he was a serious proponent of cooperation between the Federation and the Klingons, and sat upon the Federation Senate - and later the Federation Council - for many years, he was the catalyst for the Klingons' rescinding of Federation membership.
