Star Trek: Hell Hounds is a PBEM sim focusing around the activities of one team of 1st Special Projects Battalion operatives, based on Earth in the early 25th century in the aftermath of the Borg War.
- ST: Hell Hounds was created in the hope that it will give people a chance to explore a different side to Trek/FE role play. Based on a small team of highly trained, specialized FMI Operatives, their writers will undertake to bring this new venture to life.

Overview (IC)
Following the devastating troop losses during the Borg War, the Federation’s Marine Corps were absorbed along with several other smaller organizations, into a new Federation Mobile Infantry armed service; encompassing most planetary/space based assault and protection duties.
The SABRE Corps took over the space borne role of the Marines, providing highly trained soldiers capable of executing infantry operations aboard Federation assets in space. Due to their training however, they are not able to perform extended operations aboard planets (such as invasions of battalion level or greater). They were also not suited for grueling, high intensity missions that required special training as they tended to focus primarily on operations in space.
That is where the Hell Hounds come in.
The Hell Hounds are elite operatives that are hand selected by the team leader. They operate at the behest of the FMI Commanding Officer and take on the missions that are dubbed as ‘impossible’ by any other unit in the Federation.
The 1st Special Projects Battalion was designed to have a series of teams dedicated to carry out missions that are too risky or too dangerous for typical SABRE or FMI infantrymen. Currently, the Hounds comprise the first of several planned elite teams. Although Hell Hounds are trained to do just about anything, from assassination to sabotage, the Hounds are masters of LOLO (Low Orbit, Low Opening) entry to the battlefield.
This allows unprecedented flexibility in operations, as well as a high degree of stealth to be maintained for as long as possible. This allows a relatively small team to execute missions in the roughest of environments.

OOC Summary
This sim is GM’d by Brancer.
It is my intent to create the first ‘true’ infantry experience in Futility’s End. It is my goal to create a sim that can properly emulate what a Special Force’s soldier would experience in our 25th Century dystopia.
To do that, we’ve needed to think outside the box and allow character development that would normally not be allowed in a BF Sim. We are the best soldiers in the Federation… but the true drama of our writing is not in our strengths, but in our weaknesses. These weaknesses will profoundly affect the way we write our stories.
It isn’t the fact that we can take on a whole battalion… it’s what is going on through our head AS we take them on that’s important.
If you’re interested in this new type of role play, contact Brancer immediately or get shived.
