USS Archer
From FEInfobase
There have been three starships named USS Archer since 2379. These ships were named after Jonathan Archer, one of the most historical and famous Federation figures from the 22nd Century. On each plaque of the vessel the ship's motto is "We Can't Be Afraid of the Wind..." which Jonathan Archer was noted for saying after his vessel departed Qo'noS for its first mission for Human exploration of the galaxy.
NCC-44278
The USS Archer (NCC-44278) was an Excelsior Class starship. In 2379 the vessel was part of Battle Group Omega to assist the USS Enterprise-E in fighting the Reman warbird Scimitar.
In 2382 command of the vessel was transferred to newly promoted Captain Tom Paris. The vessel participated in making first contact with the Arc’kerians as well serving as the ship to meet with the Tzenkethi for a diplomatic mission.
The Archer was docked at Deep Space Nine in 2385 when the remaining ships from the Breen Confederacy arrived after nearly being slaughtered by the Borg. The Archer with two other Federation ships escorted four Breen warships and several of their frieghters to Starbase 375 where they would head to Earth under the escort of more Federation ships.
The Archer was destroyed in combat against the Borg in 2391 as it attempted to escort Romulan vessels to Earth.
NCC-44278-A
The USS Archer (NCC-44278-A) was an Explorer Class starship and was commanded by Captain Andrew Hayden, the previous' Archer's XO. The vessel was heavily involved with the Borg War and was destroyed while attempting to get supplies to Tellar in 2395.
NCC-44278-B
The USS Archer (NCC-44278-B) is a Sovereign Class vessel and command was given to Rear Admiral Tom Paris in 2397. Again. like its predecessor. this ship took an active role in the Borg War. It led the Federation Alliance fleet in repelling the Borg invasion in sector 441, the Briar Patch. During the Battle of Sol the Archer destroyed a number of the small Borg vessels and survived the battle. The ship was the flagship for Admiral Paris, commanded by Captain Tessa Omond.
Upon Admiral Paris' death in 2405, Captain Omond resigned and was replaced by Captain Jason Shepherd until his death in 2410.
