The USS Rabin NCC-62499 is an Akira Class starship has been in the service of Starfleet since 2367 and has participated in many of the major engagments in defence of the Federation since its commission.

The ship was named after former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin born on March 1, 1922 who once was a general and Israeli politician. The fifth Prime Minister of Israel from 1974 until 1977 and was re-elected as Prime Minister in 1992 until his assassination in 1995 by Yigal Amir, a right wing activist who had strongly opposed Rabin's signing of the Oslo Accords.

The ship's dedication plaque read the motto: "We are embarking today on a war in which there are no fallen and injured, and not blood nor suffer. And it is the only war in which it is a pleasure to participate - the war for the peace." which was said by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin.

History

The Rabin is currently commanded by Captain Naarg and serves in the defence of Earth in the First Fleet. In early 2403 the Rabin had been assigned in removing debris from the Field and was using Gravemetric Torpedoes. Captain Naarg agreed to give the USS Voyager several of these torpedoes in preparation of their mission to seal several subspace rifts near the Bajoran Badlands.
