Profile
Unlike it's "template" design, the Myrmidon was not a vessel designed for protracted combat, as it's decreased armaments would attest to. The Myrimidon itself could be considered an anti-thesis to the "rough and rugged" design denoted by the Intruder-class, with preferences place on speed, stealth and maneuverability over the armaments of the vessel.
Amongst its arsenal, the vessel was equipped with a tried and true means of infiltration, a cloaking device designed exclusively by the Federation and was designed to work along with it's hull which bore a light refracting attribute that augmented the device to enough to free up more power for other systems.
- Yet hardly enough to permit it the use of it's weapon through the cloak.
Inspite of these innovations, the Myrimidon itself was at best a modest combatant and was not designed for battles of attrition, instead relying on it's stealth abilities to get it in and out of conflicts. While it still possesses it's phaser compliment, it's pulse phaser cannons were removed and replaced with a powerful sensor platform to permit it the ability to track targets from several parsecs.
History
Originally the second of it's class to be constructed during the Jellico and later Kirok administration, the vessel itself was one of several projects that were placed on hold during the Presidential Election due to the allocation of funds to the Ark Royal project and ultimately was left berthed and unfinished within Spacedock until the aftermath of the Assault on Sol in 2406.
Over a week following the battle, it was completed and sent of a preliminary shakedown cruise to Pluto by Captain Chadwick following a meeting between himself and Coordinator Obrenovic. It would be there that it would "disappear" into a forgotten maintenance dock in low orbit of Pluto where it would be fitted with the various modifications as requested by Obrenovic.
Notes
Behind the Scenes
- The vessel itself was inspired by the TDD-1 Tuatha De Danaan of Full Metal Panic.
