Personal Background

Michael was brought up mainly by his mother, Irene Johnson while she served on the Explorer Class vessel USS Delvon as the first officer. At the age of one his father was killed while on an away mission. Michael never knew anything about his father, Frederick Johnson. Before his father was killed, Michael's mother had found out she was pregnant with their second son. After his father death his mother took temporary leave from Starfleet and returned to Earth with Michael. Both of them lived in Starfleet accommodations in the town of Portsmouth in Britain. This was where Irene was born and raised as a child. Nine months later Irene gave birth to Andrew Johnson, Michael's baby brother. While Michael and Andrew were growing up Irene would play music to them both. She played music from late twenty century Earth. She only played some of the greatest singers of that time period. Michael had become fond of Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and his mother's favourite singer Barry White. At a young age Michael was taught by his mother how to play the piano. Michael had become quite good at it. Andrew was never a great lover of his mother's music but he had enjoyed something else that his mother was very good at. Drawing and Painting. Andrew would spend most of his time painting or drawing. He even once drew a picture of Michael playing the family's grand piano in their living room. Andrew was particular good at drawing and painting starships.

Career

2391-2400

When Michael was old enough he entered Starfleet Academy. He spent at least five years there. Andrew had entered the academy and had left before Michael. Andrew had become a skilled pilot. During this time Starfleet had asked Irene to return to Starfleet and take command of the Prometheus Class vessel USS Widmore. Michael had kept in contact with his mother and brother. His family was very close. Michael had left the academy at the age of 21. He had taken this amount of time to come an expert in Tactical, Piloting, Diplomatic and Command skills. He was given the rank of Lieutenant junior grade and was posted at Starfleet Tactical where he worked on battle strategies and tactic to defeat the Borg. When he had heard the lost of the Bajoran system, where his mother ship was presumed lost with all hands, Michael did not want his brother serving on any ship. Michael had told Andrew to return home to Earth. While at the academy Andrew had also majored in Tactical as well. Michael wanted Andrew to work with him at Starfleet Command. Andrew had tried to get a transfer but at that time Admiral Kathryn Janeway had sent a letter to him asking him to become her Chief Flight Control Officer when she took back the USS Voyager as her personal flagship. Andrew had spoken to Michael and Michael said it was ok. Michael had last heard from Andrew before Voyager was destroyed. After the Battle of Sol Michael had met with a then one Commander Eden Enigma. It was a brief encounter. But Commander Enigma had become aware of how many of Michael's tactics and strategies had helped in defeating the Borg at the Battle of Sol. After the battle Michael had entered a point in his life where everyone he knew was killed. The only two people who he does not know their fate to, are his best friends one who he knew from his childhood, one Lieutenant Scott Hayes and the other a Lieutenant Catherine Sowri, who he knew from the Academy. Scott had been serving on board the USS Achilles when she went missing while on a mission to Klingon space prior to the Battle of Sol. On his other hand Michael had never found out about Lieutenant Catherine Sowri until 2400. He found out she had died at the Battle of Sol but had a son. Michael later found out that he was the father and that he had a son called Connor.

2400-2403

In 2400 Michael was stationed on board the USS Enterprise-F under the command of Captain Eden Enigma (Ent-F:"The Winds Of Change"). He served the vessel well for three years where his son Connor lived with him. While on the Enterprise, Michael became romantically involved with the ship's chief engineer, Rain Galagher. He aided Captain Enigma in developing a tactic nicknamed the Enigma Maneuver where two Hellfire Torpedoes were programmed to detonate the moment they phased through the shields of an enemy vessel causing disruption and failure to the shields. (Ent-F:"A Drifter On The Stream"). In 2401 he was promoted to the rank of full lieutenant and ordered by Admiral Paris to temporary command the Enterprise to Deep Space One, where command would be transferred over to Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet(DS1: "Back To The Final Frontier"). A year later, Andrew, Michael's youngest brother was found alive by the USS Red Robin in 2402 (DS1: "The Miracle Workers") in The Field, barely alive in a statis field in the wreck of a Borg vessel. Andrew was posted to Deep Space One with his brother who had now reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. However in mid-2402 Michael decided to take an extensive leave of absence from Starfleet to deal with raising his son as well as helping his brother through his difficult time going through his post-traumatic disorder (DS1: "The Vulcan Connection").
