The Federation re-establishes its first deep space station in over twenty years but an old enemy returns from the ashes.
Summary
After one year in wading through the destruction that was left after the Borg War, Starfleet begins to setup its first station beyond Earth and the Inner Core Territory. Using two old Galaxy Class saucer sections, the Starfleet Corps of Engineers assembles Deep Space One in orbit of Ba'ku.
Back on Earth Fleet Admiral Jean Luc Picard assigns Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet to assume command of the new station. A convoy of ships with the last supplies for the station is put together by Admiral Tom Paris and lead by the USS Yorktown under the command of Captain Carl Rico.
Two months past and the journey to the newest outpost soon concludes. The station's crew comes together and begins to get use to their new assignments. However the station is automatically attacked by the Borg Remnants. The convoy attempts to push back the Borg and succeeds with the help of the arrival of the station's new bodyguard, the USS Enterprise NX 1701 - F.
With the threat soon over and repairs nearing completion the convoy soon departs leaving Captain Bennet and his crew to face the new final frontier alone.
Background Out Of Character Information
- This was Deep Space One's first mission and a conclusion to Star Trek: Voyager-A's first mission where it helped in the construction of the starbase. It was also the first ever Joint Mission in Futility's End.
- This was the last mission for the Star Trek: Enterprise-F simm as it was merged with DS1.
- The story carries on the plot of the Borg Remanents from the Star Trek: Pegasus-C simm.
- The writing of the mission was set in a script/novel hybrid, but this format would later change as the simm developed in to a full novel style of writing.
