Following the devastating troop losses during the [[Borg War]], the [[Federation’s Marine Corps]] were absorbed along with several other smaller organizations, into a new [[Federation Mobile Infantry]] armed service; encompassing most planetary/space based assault and protection duties.

The [[SABRE Corps]] took over the space borne role of the Marines, providing highly trained soldiers capable of executing infantry operations aboard Federation assets in space. Due to their training however, they are not able to perform extended operations aboard planets (such as invasions of battalion level or greater). They were also not suited for grueling, high intensity missions that required special training as they tended to focus primarily on operations in space.

The [[1st Special Projects Battalion]] was designed to have a series of teams dedicated to carry out missions that are too risky or too dangerous for typical SABRE or FMI infantrymen. Currently, the Hounds comprise the first of several planned elite teams. Although Hell Hounds are trained to do just about anything, from assassination to sabotage, the Hounds are masters of LOLO (Low Orbit, Low Opening) entry to the battlefield.

It is my intent to create the first ‘true’ infantry experience in Futility’s End. It is my goal to create a sim that can properly emulate what a Special Force’s soldier would experience in our 25th Century dystopia.

To do that, we’ve needed to think outside the box and allow character development that would normally not be allowed in a BF Sim. We are the best soldiers in the Federation… but the true drama of our writing is not in our strengths, but in our weaknesses. These weaknesses will profoundly affect the way we write our stories.

Star Trek: Hell Hounds (also known as the "Star Trek: The Hellhounds Dossier") is a PBF sim focusing around the activities of the "flagship team" of the Cerberus Institute, Cell Alpha, better known as the Hell Hounds based autonomously throughout the Federation in the early 25th century in the aftermath of the Federation Civil War.

Unlike it's predecessors, this incarnation of the Hellhounds attempts to present a glimpse into such organisations as Section 31, SSI and not solely around organisations based from bodies such as FMI, SSI or SABRE.

Contents

Overview (IC)

It is an age of discord amongst the known galaxy...

Within the Federation, turmoil and betrayal had gripped the once shining beacon of civilisation as the "Kirok Administration" attempted to cement it's hold over the populous. Meanwhile, far beyond it's borders, threats such as the Harvesters and the Borg once more have risen to fight from the shadows.

The Cerberus Institute was formed to combat these threats and more, standing as the shield in the shadows for the Federation and Starfleet, and possibly the very last remnants of civilisation and life in the galaxy.

We stand beyond Starfleet and the FMI.

We stand beyond the Federation itself in our pursuit of these threats.

The 25th century is where all will change.

OOC Summary

This sim is headed by The "Doc".

This sim was developed in an attempt to bridge the concepts presented in Torchwood with the dark and tumultuous era that FE shines it's light upon, to distance ourselves from the "mold" of most Trek sims that are focused around heavily militarised rank-and-file stories and attempt to bring a sense of greater vulnerability to the reader/s. It also borrows some of it's atmosphere and elements from Darker Projects The Section 31 files.
