Career
2371-2379
Janeway assumed command of Voyager in early 2371 and led the vessel on its historic seven year mission as it transverse the Delta Quadrant on a journey to return to the Alpha Quadrant. The vessel had been pulled in to the distant quadrant by a powerful alien called the Caretaker. During its voyage Janeway made first contact with more then 150 species and represented the Federation displaying the morals and ideology that she passionately believed in. During her time in the Delta Quadrant she led her vessel in a number of battles against the Borg.
The vessel returned in 2377 and Janeway was promoted to Rear Admiral. Her first official orders as an admiral was to give the captaincy of Voyager to her former executive officer, Captain Chakotay. The Admiral was present at several peace talks to prevent Federation members from leaving due to their concerns the UFP could no longer protect their people after the Dominion War.
Two years later Janeway was made a liaison between Starfleet Command Headquarters and the Federation Council. She ordered Captain Jean Luc Picard to take the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 – E to meet with newly appointed Praetor of Romulus, Shinzon.
A month later and the admiral returned to her duties with assigning out orders on behalf of command, she worked heavily with many commanding officers from the Fourth Fleet.
2379-2383
One year later Janeway had brought a former officer of hers from Voyager in to her staff; Tom Paris. It was her aim to train him up to become a commanding officer in Starfleet. She trained Paris for two years before he left to return to his previous position as the XO under the command of Captain Chakotay.
In 2382 Janeway was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and a week later she promoted Captain Picard to the rank of Rear Admiral. Picard joined Janeway as she led a Federation team in to peace talks with Grazerite representatives to discuss Grazer’s position in the Federation. The mission was a success and Grazer remained members. Once again Janeway carried on her diplomatic talks when she represented the Federation in peace talks to prolong amicable relations with the Tzenkethi. She was escorted to the meeting on board newly promoted Captain Tom Paris’ vessel the USS Archer NCC 44278. During the mission Janeway had been kidnapped by small faction of Tzenkethi officials who didn’t want to agree to the new treaty. She had been freed after Paris was able to devise a rescue operation and sat across the table with Paris and hammered out the new peace treaty. The new treaty resulted in both the Federation and Tzenkethi agreeing to augment trade routes between their peoples.
2383-2396
In 2383 the Borg launched their first offensive against the powers in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Janeway was recalled alongside Picard and the two began to develop defensive strategies and tactics in dealing with the Borg threat.
Janeway was promoted to Admiral in 2395 and assumed direct command of a majority of Starfleet forces. She was made Head of Starfleet Tactical and continued in working with former members of her crew and other Starfleet officers who had first hand expertise with the Borg.
2388 and Janeway received another promotion to Fleet Admiral as Starfleet was using a number of its ships and so were allied forces. She was made the Commander In Chief of Starfleet. Janeway had made Picard her Second in Command (although she had felt he would be best suited for the position then her). For a decade the two worked close in leading the Federation and its allies in the Borg War. On December 23rd 2398, Janeway had stood down as Commander In Chief and assumed a direct leadership role of the Federation Alliance fleet on board her flagship, Voyager. Voyager had been destroyed during the Battle of Sol and Fleet Admiral Kathryn Janeway had been presumed killed in action.
