The Earth Defence Service Medal was an awards created in 2399 following the Battle of Sol and was awarded to almost everyone who participated in the battle. Despite most of the awards being awarded posthumously and many of the combantants having no recorded next of kin and so requiring no physical medal, of those who are eligible for such only a small fraction have recieved them in the five years that have passed since its issuing.

- Ens. Emel Kalain - Operations Manager, USS Agincourt
