Career
2371-2378
Harry served on board the USS Voyager NCC 74656, under the command of Captain Kathryn Janeway for over seven years while it attempted to travel home after being stranded in the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker. He held the rank of ensign while assigned as the vessel's chief operations officer. Voyager was his first assignment after leaving Starfleet Academy. During his time on Voyager he became close friends with Tom Paris, B'Elanna Torres as well as other various senior and junior officers. He was always seen as the eagerest crewmember to get home, over time and after so many failed attempts at using methods that were faster-then-light means Harry soon found an infinite with his fellow crewmates and ship.
2378-2381
Kim was later promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant along with several other Voyager crew members at their "welcome home" ceremony. With his return home he got back with his former girlfriend Libby Webber. After aiding his former commanding officer and other crewmates in preventing a Borg Nanoprobe virus infection on Earth he was re-assigned back to Voyager as its chief security and tactical officer under the new command of Captain Chakotay.
On Voyager’s first mission since its return to the Alpha Quadrant the vessel was assigned the duty of aiding Native American colonists back to their former homeworld of Loran II, a world near the Cardassian Union border. The mission was simple, make sure the planet was safe for re-colonization, unload the settlers and return to Earth. However Voyager’s new executive officer turned out to be a changeling collaborating with Cardassian Exobiologist Crell Moset known as the "Butcher of Bajor" . Moset and the changeling had been using the DNA of the colonists and those colonists from Captain Chakotay’s homeworld of Dorvan V to create some super species that would bring Moset the fame he has craved for to redeem himself from the actions he did against the Bajoran people. Harry alongside Voyager’s new Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Jareem Kaz figured out the strange behaviour of the changeling who was imposing as Chakotay. The two senior officers covertly contacted Admiral Janeway about Chakotay’s behaviour. When events on the ship took a turn for the worse with the changeling threat Lieutenant Commander Tom Paris was sent to provide aide. With the other Voyager crewmembers they were able to overthrow the changeling and rescue their missing crew.
After Paris was made executive officer on Voyager, Kim was later assigned as ship’s Second XO.
2381-2403
Kim after being promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander was offered the position of lead developer on the Nova Refit Class Project at the Oakland Shipyards in 2381. His was giving a small dry dock at the Oakland ships with one Nova class starship, the USS Rhode Island NCC 72701. The Rhode Island had been mothballed from service as its original crew during the Dominion War was re-assigned to more important positions within the fleet.
After being with his girlfriend for nearly five years Harry married Libby in a service on Earth. They asked Admiral Janeway to perform the ceremony, with Tom Paris acting as Kim’s best man.
Kim continued with his work at on the Nova Refit Project which had only consisted of a few members. They were confronted by numerous problems with the development of the project. Kim had already made the rank of command in 2386 and four years later the project was a success and the Rhode Island left dry dock under Kim’s command to test the new systems installed on the Nova Refit Class ship. Three years later Starfleet Command was pleased with the Rhode Island’s performance and promoted Kim to the rank of captain. His ship was placed in to a small task group assigned to monitor Borg activates near and Sol.
The Rhode Island survived the Battle of Sol in 2398 and was quickly assigned to the First Fleet in aide of Earth’s defence. Kim led a small task group of six ships within the fleet.
Kim’s ship goes on routine missions to other Federation systems in the inner core territory as well as protecting Earth. The Rhode Island is also responsible for the finding of Empok Nor in the triangle in mid-2403.
