The Andorian Imperial Guard was the military branch of the former Andorian Empire from the 22nd century, tasked with the responsbility of defence of Andoria. The Guard remained in effect by the 23rd century but by the 24th century due to Andoria being a Federation member Starfleet had main responsbility of protection of the planet. However due to the Borg War, many Andorians enlisted in to their home Imperial Guard to help defend the homeworld. By the 25th Century the Andorian Imperian Guard had grown in force, and were responsbile for defending Andorian and nearby Federation worlds.
They had several shipyards in orbit of Andoria, and reguarly allowed Starfleet ships to dock there for repairs and re-supplying. The USS Enterprise-F in 2403 docked at the Imperial Guard's shipyards to recieve repairs after its mission on Vulcan resulted in the craft being damaged.
The Guard reports to the Andorian Chancellor and is lead by a Supreme General, who in 2403 was Tarath ch’Rane (DS1: "Along The Stream").
