Sarek

Sarek was a Vulcan who was seen as an influential peacemaker from the 22nd century to his death in the 24th century. He was also the father of Spock. He became famous throughout the Federation as a keen representative of the Vulcan people and as an ambassador for the Federation.

Starship

In 2391 the Vulcan High Command decided to honour Ambassador Sarek's accomplishments and named their flagship the Sarek. This was after the USS Sarek, a Starfleet ship had been lost during the Borg War. The Sarek was a refitted and upgraded version of the old D'kyr Class cruiser that had served the Vulcan High Command for many centuries. The ship was commanded by Commander Sek. The ship was partially assimilated during the Battle of Vulcan but its crew was able to drive the Borg off the vessel. Some of the Sarek's systems were improved by the Borg assmilation, which included its transporter systems.

In 2403 the ship entered Federation space and assisted the USS Enterprise-F at Weytahn to take former Chief Administrator Loval in to custody on the orders of Chief Administrator T'Poul (DS1: "Along The Stream").
