Star Trek: Phoenix is a sim set in the early 25th century which focuses around the USS Phoenix (aka the "Kittytown" due to the high number of Caitian characters).

The Phoenix itself is a "last-chance" vessel which is reputed to be staffed by Starfleet's unwanted and undesireables with many of the crew either having committed, or being accused of, a crime or negligence.

Mission Outlines

New Beginnings, A Prelude

The misfit crew of the USS Phoenix assembles at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. After weeks of work the Phoenix is finally outfitted and ready for her re-launching ceremony, even if she is a bit short-staffed and missing a bit in the weapons department.

Big Trouble on Little Holodeck

During her maiden cruise the Captain orders the crew of the Phoenix to assemble on the holodeck for a costume party. Little do they know that the holodeck has been sabotaged by one of the Phoenix's crew members, sending everyone into holodeck scenarios based on the costumes they were wearing. Eventually the saboteur is caught and order restored on the Phoenix, just in time for her re-launching ceremony.

The Altair IV Problem

As part of the ongoing war with the Vulcans the Phoenix is sent on a mission to Altair IV. A detachment of Vulcan troops captured a number of Federation citizens and tourists who were visiting the planet and holed up in a defensive position on Altair IV with plans to eventually kill the captives when they detonated an antimatter device in the planet's core. The only ship in range to reach Altair IV before the Vulcans carry out their plans is the Phoenix, which is ordered on station. During the engagement several members of the crew are killed by the Vulcans on the planet, including Assistant Tactical Officer Torana Brown. During the mission the Phoenix is ambushed by a Vulcan starship and suffers significant damage before being rescued at the last minute by the USS Casablanca and towed back to Utopia Planitia.

Repair and Resupply

Following being towed back into the fleet yards the Phoenix is berthed at dock seven, one of the few that hadn't been hit by terrorist attacks. While berthed the Phoenix undergoes a series of repairs and refits in an effort to bring the ship up to the current specs of Starfleet. In the process, several new crew members come aboard including: Executive Officer Riley Sutton, Chief Ops Officer Dorenna Tor, Chief Engineer M'rissi T'arren, Security Officer Ka'Tara, and new Chief Tactical and Security Officer Zoria Graffe. Additionally, a few members of the crew are re-assigned, including former Chief Security and Tactical Officer A'Lex T'Pol Aegeri, former Chief Science Officer Theodore Sheridan, and former Fighter Element Leader Aden "Spitfire" Fulton. During the process of the repairs Lieutenant T'arren re-allocates several parts from a Federation boneyard and the USS Kyoto without the proper authorization because she was frustrated at the minimal amount of parts the ship recieved for repairs.

Special Delivery

After repair and refit, the Phoenix is once again able to get underway and back to semi-normal. Upon leaving the Sol System, the Phoenix has been assigned to transport a cargo of terraforming equipment, computer cores, and several packages of aid to Cait. The hope is that the Caitian commanded Phoenix will be able to broker re-admission of the planet to the Federation. Near the Caitian system, the Phoenix came under attack by 3 ships of the Orion Syndicate, who attempted to steal their terraforming cargo. Two ships of the Crimson Claws intervened and assisted in repelling the Orions.

After a brief discussion, it was agreed that the ships would escort the Phoenix to Cait. Upon delivering the equipment, it was stolen by raiders and Lieutenant T'arren was kidnapped. A surprise ally, Aa'reth T'arren, a high ranking member of the Crimson Claws and the brother of the kidnapped Lieutenant T'arren appears to offer assistance. During negotiations, the Caitian Chancellor is assassinated, and the killer, Defense Minister K'raav attempts to sieze the government.

It becomes clear the Aa'reth and the Claws have something planned for such an event, when contraty to Aa'reth's orders, the Captain of the Caitian vessel that escorted the Phoenix comes back with a boarding party to seize it. At the same time, Aa'reth, Rissi's mother Ressi, Commander Riley, and Captain Pierce set out to rescue the kidnapped Engineer and deal with the raiders that did it and stole the terraforming equipment. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Addis and Ensign R'Pas retook control of the Phoenix using quite unorthodox tactics. Upon retaking the ship, the team rescues Lieutenant T'arren and comes back onboard. Even though the Phoenix's mission seems like it is over, and will be deamed a failure, things are not finished yet.

In the next few hours, Aa'reth and the Claws stage another coup intended to remove the new government. From the scale, it is clear that this was a planned move on their part that was pushed into action sooner then intended. The coup is successful with the complete backing of the military and majority approval from the population who believe that a member of the famous and practically royal R'Pas/T'arren family will make an ideal leader for the planet. Four days later, M'esserri R'Pas throws a huge party to thank the Phoenix for rescuing her daughter. Captain T'ssara and new Chancellor T'arren hash out a fragile agreement for a Caitian/Federation relationship that sets the Phoenix on her next adventure.

Over the River and Through the Woods

Following the signing of the tentative treaty between Cait and the Federation, the Phoenix is sent to the vicinity of Bajor to find a Nor Class station to be towed back to Cait for their use. Unknown to the crew, the target station of Kerok Nor is manned by an eccentric hermit known only as "Mok" who has the station rigged to conceal himself. Also taking up residence on the station are a reptillian hunter and a Caitian refugee that occasionally spar. Mok wants them off of "his" station, and sets about trying to coerce them to leave without revealing himself. Meanwhile, the Phoenix arrives and beams over an away team to try and take control of the aging Cardassian relic of an outpost.

But Kerok Nor fights back, as systems go awry, and they trip several safeguards designed to keep slaves from rebelling against their Cardassian overlords. After a harrowing trip through the insides of the decaying and malfunctioning station, the crew finally gets things under control by ejecting the station's power cores and bypassing the lockouts. With the station secured by two tow ships, the Phoenix heads back to Cait while the crew enjoys a bit of well earned rest that includes a holographic carnival created by Commander Riley Sutton. The episode concludes with the successful delivery of the station to Cait's orbit where the military begins working on it to bring it to operational status.

Brave New Universe

The USS Phoenix is enroute to the Sol System after it's successful mission to Cait when they detect a temporal disturbance just outside the Andor system. Moving to investigate, the USS Eisenhower, a ship from the year 2327, emerges from the vortex in front of the Phoenix.

The Phoenix is instantly transformed into a well run, top of the line warship. It is still a New Orleans Class frigate, but it has state of the art weapons, improved tactical systems, a more powerful warp core, and a battle hardened crew. The crew of the Phoenix, and the rest of the galaxy notice no changes, because to them, this is the way things have always been. The changes don't stop within the Phoenix, however. The Federation is in dire straits. In this timeline, the Borg war never happened. The starship USS Enterprise D was never built, thus first contact was never made with the Borg, and the entire war that devastated the Alpha Quadrant never occured. At least not the way proper history would recall..

In this timeline, the Romulans infiltrated the Federation at several key levels and with precision attacks, have been able to overwhelm it through military force. Most former Federation systems are now under Romulan control, and the Federation itself is considered to be a third rate power. All effort and materials are put into weapon research instead of ship development and scientific knowledge of the galaxy. The Federation is mostly supplied through Ferengi gunrunners, eager to continue the lucrative trade they are enjoying. Starfleet is on its last legs, and defeat is inevitable given the expansion of the Romulan military since their non-aggression pact and trade agreements with the Klingon Empire went into place. Now they concentrate their forces for a final push on what remains of the Federation.

Down the Rabbit Hole

After running into what appears to be a temporal anomaly, but with no memory of what happened in the previous mission, the Phoenix finds itself with several new crewmembers, apparently "leftovers" of the brief alternate history they were in... all of them tell a similar story, but none of the crew seems to remember any of it.

Enroute back to Earth for resupplies and with their new passengers, the Phoenix prepares to traverse "The Field", a massive debris ring around the Sol system from the final battle of the Borg War. However, sinister forces are at work to bring about the collapse of the Starfleet maintained passages through it. Such a move would choke the Sol system to death and perhaps bring about the end of what is left of the Federation.
