Summary

Lieutenant Commander Rain Galagher informs Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet of systems that are starting to fail and degrade on the station due to the way it was assembled from various recycled hardware and derelict ships. One of the many systems which are failing is the power grid – it’s old and the whole lot needs to be replaced. Already Galagher has discussed the situation with Admiral Montgomery Scott and requested he send her information about a specialised engineering project called Harmony which was brought together by some of the best engineering minds in the Federation to create a system which would allow all different types of technologies to work in union with each other with no problems. However Admiral Scott agrees to send the information but informs Galagher that the project members were spread throughout the Inner Core Territory before the Battle Of Vulcan.

Working under advisement from his engineer Captain Bennet speaks with Admiral Paris who reluctantly agrees to allow for Deep Space One to be powered down and manned by a skeleton crew while the rest of the crew take the Enterprise back to Earth and find the group members. Several weeks later Captain Marla Gilmore on board the USS Equinox along with the IKS Drovana and the USS Intrepid arrive at the station as the Enterprise departs the Briar Patch and back to the Inner Core Territory.

Months later the ship arrives in the Sol Sector where it receives several upgrades and re-supplies. Many members of the crew take the time to visit family or friends as well as take vacations. While inspecting the upgrades to the ship with his friend Lieutenant Commander Lance Brandon a call from Starfleet Medical has the captain summoned by Fleet Admiral Jean-Luc Picard to discuss a survivor from the Battle of Sol found in The Field by the USS Red Robin only a few days ago. The survivor is a young ensign and is the brother of Enterprise’s Chief Strategic Operations Officer, Lieutenant Commander Michael Johnson. With a little persuaision and agreements by several senior admirality members Michael’s brother Andrew Johnson is allowed to complete his recovery on board the Enterprise.

A few days later and the captain is ordered to Starfleet Command Headquarters to see Commodore Bryan Cash, who promotes Zack to the rank of Fleet Captain and appoints him the commanding officer of the Fourth Fleet within the Starfleet Re-Exploration Initiative.

(After told the station's systems will fail in six to nine months time) "Great so we all could be in escape pods for the new year's party!"
