This one... pretty much looked like the last one did, before Kirk blew it up. When a man blows up a ship, you shouldn't just give him an identical one...

NCC-1701-D
Commissioned in 2363 the Galaxy Class Enterprise-D became the fifth ship to bear the name Enteprise, at the time of her launch she became the Federation Flagship a role she held until her destruction in 2371 in the orbit of Viridian III after being attacked by a rogue Klingon Bird of Prey.
Enterprise-D was built at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yars which Orbit Mars, a ship yard which would later launch the first Ark Royal Class Battle Cruiser.
Commanding Officers

- Captain Jean Luc Picard
NCC-1701-E
The Enterprise-E was launched from San Francisco Shipyards on stardate 49827.5 in early 2372. The ship was the second Sovereign class starship to be built and launched in to service. The vessel was the most advanced starship (besides the USS Sovereign) in service to the Federation.
History
Second Borg Incursion
The vessel was originally commanded by Captain Jean Luc Picard and crewed by a number of crewmembers from the Enterprise-D. Enterprise-E participated in the defence of Earth from the second Borg incursion in to Federation space, and prevented the Borg from altering history by stopping first contact between Earth and Vulcan in 2063.
Dominion War
The flagship also participated in efforts to liberate the planet Betazed from Dominion occupation. The Enterprise-E didn’t play much of a major role in the Dominion War as Starfleet wanted the vessel to deal with internal matters in Federation territory. The ship hosted a diplomatic function for the Evora, a new species that had developed warp drive and became Federation Protectorates.
Ba’ku Insurrection
In 2375 Captain Picard took the vessel in to the Briar Patch to assist Admiral Matthew Dougherty and the Federation’s newest ally the Son’a in retrieving the ship’s android second officer, Lieutenant Commander Data. It was soon found out that in fact Dougherty and the Son’a were trying to remove the inhabitants from the Ba’ku planet which had a source metaphasic radiation that could rejuvenate organic material. The Enterprise-E fought the Son’a forces and made it public knowledge about the relocation program. The program was halted and the ship returned for repairs.
Romulan Nemesis
Four years later and the Dominion War was over and the Federation was rebuilding. The Enterprise was ordered to Romulus to meet with the new Praetor, Shinzon for peace talks. The talks were actually a ruse to get Picard to Romulus, where Shinzon was in fact Picard’s clone and was going to use him so he could live on and conquer the Federation using Thalaron radiation. With aid from the Romulan fleet, the Enterprise engaged Shinzon’s flagship, the Reman warbird Scimitar and defeated the threat to the Federation. Enterprise survived the incident however the ship was heavily damaged after it rammed the large warbird. The ship was dry-docked at San Francisco for repairs and refits.
Re-Exploration & Diplomacy
The ship was assigned to deep space assignments in the Beta Quadrant for three years and was recalled to Deep Space Nine for the peace talks the Dominion opened with the Federation and Klingon Empire in 2380. Command was transferred to the ship’s executive officer, Wesley Crusher in 2381 as Picard was promoted to Rear Admiral.
The Enterprise continued to serve Starfleet and the Federation well under the command of Captain Crusher. Crusher mediated a new peace treaty between the Federation and the Talarian Empire. The treaty opened a new era between the two powers allowing for trade routes to be set up, a mutual defence pact signed and a sharing of scientific resources. Fate fell to the proud vessel when it was heavily disabled on December 17th 2384 by an unusual sub-space anomaly near to the Bajoran Badlands. The ship was in the middle of a rescue effort to retrieve the crew of a stricken Talarian ship on its way to Deep Space Nine. The Enterprise had been successful in rescuing the Talarian crew but the ship had to be towed back to Earth.
The Enterprise was temporarily decommissioned as was no way that the ship could be repaired without using heavy amounts of resources from the San Francisco and Utopia Planitia shipyards. Admirals Picard and Janeway fought hard for the ship to be repaired but they were overruled. The ship was placed in to dock alpha one at Utopia Planitia shipyards to rest until a decision would be made with what to do with the Sovereign class vessel.
Without any knowledge the Starfleet Corps of Engineers had already start work on slowly repairing the ship. Captain Crusher had pulled in a few favours to have the ship repaired gradually shortly before he took his new assignment teaching at Starfleet Academy.
The Borg War
On 9th April 2385, shortly after the Borg dealt the Klingon Empire a crippling blow to their fleet Captain Worf, the Federation Ambassador to Qo'nos had returned to Earth to request the Federation Council to allow the Klingon Empire to become members of the UFP. The Klingons were quickly brought in to the Federation family. By this time repairs and refits to the Enterprise were nearing completion. Starfleet Tactical had been using the ship as test bed for some new systems to fight the Borg Collective. The ship was hurried out of dry-dock, command of the ship was transferred to Captain Worf with Admiral Picard returning to his old ship as mission advisor. The Enterprise would lead a relief force consisting of forty-two starships mostly from the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 17 to Qo'nos, bringing medical supplies, food, 500 Olrem class orbital defence weapons platforms, and other resources the Klingons would soon need to defend their homeworld.
By the time the fleet arrived at Qo'nos it was revealed that the ship was part of the Sovereign Re-Development Project and that it had been upgraded with technology only used in the fourth fleet. Her impulse manifolds are enhanced allowing the ship to out fly anything at least half its size, and the warp core’s matter/antimatter reactor’s catalyst is powered by trelinium crystals. The ship was outfitted with forty Hellfire Torpedoes, four hundred Photon Torpedoes, three hundred Quantum Torpedoes, fifteen Tri-Cobalt warheads and six Transphasic Torpedoes. Two out of its twelve type twelve phaser arrays were upgraded to type fifteen phaser arrays. Additionally the ship was given a multi layered shielding system (MLSS), type two ablative armour generators. When the Federation fleet arrived at Qo'nos Chancellor Martok immediately had each ship including the Enterprise outfitted with the newest Klingon cloaking devices.
The Enterprise only saw action twice against the Borg during its defence for the Klingon Homeworld. The first time was when the Borg made their first attempt to destroy Qo'nos. The Borg had planned to take out Qo'nos knowing that if they did Federation forces would not be able to gain valuable resources from the Klingon Homeworld. The combined Federation and Klingon fleet in orbit of Qo'nos took out the first wave of Borg vessels. Only six allied vessels were lost during this engagement. When Fleet Admiral Janeway recalled Admiral Picard to Earth, the Enterprise rendezvoused with the USS Republic and transferred the Admiral back to Earth.
Contact was soon lost with the Enterprise in 2388 well as the Klingon homeworld when Starfleet discovered that the Borg had taken the offensive against the Klingons for the last time
Data records from the Enterprise indicated the new improvements to the starship helped the ship serve the Klingon people well. Whatever happened to the flagship remains a mystery.
