The USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-F, is the current flagship of the Federation and it's exploratory and military arm, Starfleet, and perhaps one of the most famous and well known vessels in all Federation history. The Enterprise has traditionally filled the role of Federation flagship for well over a hundred years in it's different incarnations.

The Enterprise has a primary mission of exploration and rediscovery of the lost star systems since the Borg War. Contact with many former Federation worlds, allies and even enemies has been lost since the end of the war. The Enterprise is also tasked with re-initiating contact with those lost civilizations. The current incarnation of the Enterprise truly does carry on the motto of all previous starships to bear the name -- "These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before."

History

The USS Enterprise was the second starship to leave the Sol System after the Borg War in 2400. She currently serves as the flagship of the Federation.

The Enterprise-F was the first of her class and was the first Enterprise with the 1701 registry number to have a "NX" as part of her prefix. This has since been changed to the more standard NCC prefix with the launch of USS Columbia in the year 2405. The vessel was the largest ship when she entered service and was built to assist with the defense and re-building phase for the Federation. In size and some capabilities she is only surpassed by the Excalibur-class.

First Steps

The vessel was launched from the San Francisco Shipyards on stardate 77502.81 under the command of Captain Eden Enigma. The vessel participated in the initial re-exploration of the area around the Sol system with the other fledgling members of the 4th Fleet at the time. Notably the Enterprise re-established contact with Alpha Centauri during this period of time.

In 2402 the ship was dry-docked to receive important upgrades that were left out when it was built. At this time command of the ship passed from Eden Enigma to Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet following Enigma's re-assignment. After the refit, the Enterprise left Sol to begin exploration of the furthest reaches of Federation space that had been previously unexplored for fear of the Borg lying in wait. The Enterprise successfully repeated the name-sake's history by reestablishing contact with many former core Federation worlds as well as re-planting the Federation flag on many formerly abandoned outposts.

Marshall-Bennet took the Enterprise with him to Deep Space One where he assumed overall command of the station and the Enterprise. Captain Marshall-Bennet remained in command of the Enterprise until the last quarter of 2406 until the events of the Renegades Civil War and the Second Battle for Sol left him with little wish to remain within Starfleet.

Further Exploration

The ship was returned to Earth for another minor refit. The ships new chief engineer commented that she had been kept in poor maintenance for several years; a state Commander Night promised he wouldn't let her slip back into. Under the command of Captain Kurt Darkly, the Enterprise set out for Klingon space in January 2407 to help the Klingons living within the Federation re-establish their empire. The main goal of this mission was to determine the condition of Qo'nos and whether or not it was suitable for the Klingons to return to their former homeworld. Captain Darkly was successful in reestablishing contact with many worlds along the old Klingon-Federation boarder, or confirming the complete destruction of those worlds. Able to give supply and aid to these worlds, the Enterprise was quickly building a reputation positive to the new Federation.

The Enterprise slowly but surely made her way from world to world - giving hope to many worlds along the way. However hope was not given to just those formerly "outlying" worlds of the Federation, but also to the citizens of the Federation overall that perhaps their loved ones and former brothers of the Federation were still alive and well in all far reaches of the Federation.

Finally the Enterprise arrived at Qo'nos six months later confirming that the planet had been partially assimilated, but abandoned by the Borg. When they sent word back to Starfleet Command, the Klingons on Earth began a mass exodus to return to their former homeworld, empire, and eventually glory.

Hiatus

After nearly eight months out in open space, Starfleet Command received a distress call from the Enterprise notifying them of a severe systems malfunction which left their warp core and most main power systems inoperable without assistance. Sitting adrift in orbit of Nimbus III for three months, the USS Excalibur was finally able to carry the needed extra supplies and engineering teams to the Enterprise in January of 2408. The ship was able to limp back to Sol where she was placed in a dry dock for an over haul to resolve the systemic failures inherent in her design.

The Political Move & Boldly Going...

In late 2409 the Enterprise was relaunched for a further shake down cruise to ensure the repairs stick
