Overview

The Borg are a collective entity made up of billions of drones. Starfleet has never determined the exact nature of the Borg's hierarchy however it is clear that the 'Borg Queen' exercises some form of control over the Borg. The Borg homeworld is located in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg are also referred to as 'The Collective' and 'The Hive.'

Early Contacts

  • 2365 - First Contact is made with The Borg by the Enterprise-D after the entity Q, transports them across the Galaxy. Weapons prove ineffective and The Borg display their skills at rapid regeneration. Only with the aid of Q does the Enterprise escape.
  • 2366 - A Borg Cube is detected heading for Earth. The Enterprise-D moves to confront the vessel however is unsuccessful. Captain Jean Luc Picard is abducted and assimilated by the cube and turned into Locutus of Borg. Picard's intimate knowledge of Starship capabilities and Fleet tactics means that in the Wolf 359 system, a Starfleet Armada of thirty-nine ships is brushed aside and nearly completely destroyed by the solitary cube. The vessel is later destroyed by the Enterprise after the crew rescue Picard and seperate the man from the machine.
  • 2368 - A Borg drone is captured by the Enterprise-D and a plan is devised to introduce a virus into the Collective via the reintergration of the drone. Whilst this plan is worked on however, the drone begins to display traces of individuality and the plan for genocide is abandoned.
  • 2373 - A second cube attempts to assimilate Earth and is met by another armada which combats it in the Sol System. Though the cube is destroyed, an escape vessel travels beack in time pursued by the Enterprise-E under the command of Captain Picard. The Borg travel to 2063 and attempt to prevent First Contact however the Enterprise crew is successful in stopping the plan.

  • 2382 - The Federation learns of a Borg incursion into the Krazzle Empire, with the loss of the Krazzle homeworld. Task Force 86 of the Fourth Fleet is sent to the Krazzle border to assist in the evacuation of Starfleet and Federation Civilian forces. Only three ships from the task force return alongside a few ships from the Krazzle fleet. All Federation Starbases undergo defence-oriented refits. The Ninth Fleet, Task Force 58 and Task Force 63 from the Fourth Fleet are met Klingon 242nd Battle Squadron at the edge of the Raeya system. The Borg invade the system, destroying Avalon Shipyards and contact is soon lost with the combined Federation-Klingon fleet.
  • 2385 - Romulan outpost at Sharona 5 and the Klingon Armoured Station Klach D'kel Brakt are destroyed by the Borg. The Klingon Empire becomes a Federation member. A Klingon shipyard is constructed at Utopia Plantia Shipyards. Deep Space 12 is destroyed by the Borg. Cardassia Prime is attacked by the Borg but successfully defended. The Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 9 is permanently recalled from the Gamma Quadrant. The Breen Homeworld is destroyed by the Borg. Bajor is attacked by the Borg but successfully defended.
  • 2386 - The Ferengi Alliance is overrun by the Borg. Bajor is attacked by the Borg again but successfully defended with the assistance of 4,000 Dominion vessels. Ferengi space is retaken by the Dominion, the Federation, and the Cardassian Union. The Krazzle clan Minjay joins the Federation and constructs Fleetyards at Kaleb 3. The Borg assimilates the Romulan world Harpor 4. Fourth Fleet’s Task Forces 9 and Task Force 93 are ordered to guard the Federation/Romulan border. The Borg destroy Deep Space 4, Deep Space 5, and contact is lost the USS Titan. The Romulans are forced to retreat from Romulus. The Romulan Star Empire joins the Federation. USS Laffey locates a Borg Transwarp Hub. A Dominon/Cardassian/Federation force destroys a Borg Unimatrix, the Transwarp Hub, and 35 Borg Planets in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg assimilates a neurolithic pathogen carried by a strike force of Jem Ha'dar warriors.
  • 2391 - Starfleet discovers that the Dominion and Borg forces in the Gamma quadrant have almost completely annihalated each other. The Federation also learns of a Borg Shipyard in Cardassian Space, another at Khitomer, and that the 223 Borg vessels in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants are isolated from those in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg destroy Starbase 375 and the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 72. Task Force 44 from the Fourth Fleet destroys the Borg shipyards at Khitomer.
  • 2393 - The Borg destroy Jupiter Station and attack Utopia Plantia, which is successfully defended by the Federation and the Dominion.
  • 2397 - A Borg force attacks the Son'a. The Borg force is destroyed by the Son'a, the Dominion and the Federation.
  • 2398 - The Borg invade the Gorn Alliance and the Tholian Assembly. The Federation learns that the Borg are still unable to adapt to the Dominion pathogen. The Borg and the Dominion/Federation pit all of their ships against each other in the Sol sector. Only a handful of allied ships survive, but the Borg are wiped out.
  • 2400 - The Federation declares victory.
